# Get Discovered by AI Search with GEO

> Use NoimosAI to increase the chances that your software or app is accurately presented and cited in AI-generated product selection, comparisons, usage guidance, and troubleshooting answers.

<Tooltip tip="Generative Engine Optimization. Efforts to make your information more likely to be correctly presented and cited in AI-generated answers.">**GEO (generative engine optimization)**</Tooltip> increases the likelihood that people receive accurate information about your software or app when they ask AI about product selection, comparisons, usage, or troubleshooting.

Use this four-step workflow:

1. Measure visibility in AI search
2. Make your product information easy for AI systems to access and cite
3. Create content that helps with product selection and usage
4. Monitor and improve visibility over time

Start with [Understand GEO fundamentals](#basics), then follow [Put GEO into practice with NoimosAI](#practice) for the complete workflow.

## Understand GEO fundamentals

In addition to learned knowledge, AI uses web pages and other resources it retrieves on the fly to answer questions. The foundation of GEO is publishing official pages that clearly state product name, features, pricing, supported environments, and usage instructions so they directly answer user questions.

### 1. Audit visibility in AI search

Start with questions your target users would ask AI and investigate how the answers present your product and its competitors. Include both unbranded selection questions and product-specific questions about setup, use, and troubleshooting.

| Question stage | Example questions | What to check |
| ----------------- | ---------------------------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------- |
| Problem awareness | Ways to speed up work, causes of errors | Is your product category described as a solution? |
| Finding a product | Tools for a specific purpose, recommended apps | Is your product introduced as a candidate? |
| Comparing | Alternatives, pricing, feature differences | Are facts correct and reasons for comparison shown? |
| Getting started | How to sign up, integrate, initial setup | Are official steps cited? |
| Troubleshooting | Can't configure, how to handle errors | Is help that matches current specifications cited? |

Main metrics to check are <Tooltip tip="Shows how much your company is mentioned in AI answers relative to competitors. Abbreviation for Share of Voice.">**SOV**</Tooltip>, which indicates your mention share compared to competitors in AI answers, and <Tooltip tip="Shows the share of AI-cited sources that are your site. Abbreviation for AI Citation Share.">**ACS**</Tooltip>, which indicates the proportion of cited sources that come from your site. In addition to numbers, verify answer accuracy and the cited pages.

The same question can yield different answers depending on environment, pricing plan, device, and permissions. Narrow to conditions your product actually supports, and save the question, check date, answer, and cited sources. After improvements, compare under the same conditions.

### 2. Make product information easy for AI systems to access and cite

Make pages retrievable and understandable so AI can identify product information. Reviewing the table from top to bottom helps isolate issues with access to important pages, problems with AI reading product information, and inconsistencies across multiple pages.

| What to prepare for correct AI referencing | Check on public pages and take action if there are issues |
| ------------------------------------------ | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Fetching | Ensure <Tooltip tip="Programs that automatically fetch web pages for search engines and AI services.">**crawlers**</Tooltip> are not blocked by robots.txt or delivery settings, and publish important pages over HTTPS |
| Discovery | Make sure users can reach features, pricing, comparisons, use cases, articles, documentation, and help from the homepage; fix internal links and sitemap.xml |
| Understanding | Present product name, target users, features, pricing, supported environments, and usage instructions in the HTML body and add structured data that matches the UI |
| Accuracy | Align names, pricing, specs, and update dates across official pages, articles, and docs; update or remove outdated info |
| Evidence | Clarify company, authors, verification methods, usage data, case studies, and information sources |

If you want your published info included in ChatGPT search results, also confirm you are not blocking OAI-SearchBot from fetching your pages.

### 3. Create content for product evaluation and use

For questions lacking clear answers in your visibility audit, publish pages that clearly answer them with official information. Choose the page type based on the question’s purpose.

| Content                            | Main role                                                                                 |
| ---------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Feature, pricing, comparison pages | Accurately show target users, capabilities, pricing, and differences |
| Use cases and templates | Show which tasks the product is used for and how it is used |
| Documentation and help | Show sign-up, setup, integrations, specs, limits, and error handling |
| Articles and FAQ | Answer selection and usage questions and common questions with conclusions first |
| Research and case studies | Provide original data, test results, and user outcomes with supporting evidence |
| Video | Demonstrate operations and results to supplement steps that are hard to explain with text |

Ensure features, pricing, and procedures match the current product. Do not publish unverified effects or comparisons; include timeframes and conditions with any numeric claims.

On pages aimed at product selection, show target users, use cases, pricing, supported environments, and comparison criteria. On pages for current users, clearly state required plans, permissions, operating systems, versions, and the expected result after each procedure. Remove outdated screens or specifications and show the last-updated date.

### 4. Monitor and improve visibility over time

Regularly re-run the same questions to track changes in answers, mentions, and cited sources. Assess changes and responses together.

| What AI answers show | Possible cause and response |
| -------------------------------------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Your product is not presented as a candidate | The question may not fit the product, or public pages may not explain the relevant use case and requirements. Confirm product fit, then improve or create a use-case, comparison, or category page that answers the question directly. |
| Competitors appear and receive citations, but you do not | Inspect the cited competitor pages for the features, evidence, pricing, or compatibility details used in the answer. Add missing first-party information to the most relevant official page without imitating the competitor’s wording. |
| Features, limits, or pricing are incorrect | Public sources may conflict or remain outdated after a product change. Update the product site, pricing page, documentation, release notes, and store listing, then standardize terminology across them. |
| Instructions in the answer no longer match the product | Help pages or videos may show an older interface or omit a prerequisite. Reproduce the task in the current product, update screens and steps, and explain permissions, failure recovery, and version-specific limitations. |
| The product is mentioned without a citation | AI systems may recognize the product but lack an authoritative page supporting the claim. Publish concrete specifications, tested workflows, methodology, and primary information in accessible HTML. |

### 1. Audit visibility in AI search

Enter target user and objective into chat, create pre-selection and in-use questions, and investigate how your product and competitors appear. Compare mentions, explanations, and citations to identify questions where your product is missing or product information is misrepresented.

#### Prompt for chat

```text theme={null}
Create the questions [target users] would ask when choosing [product category], and questions they would ask about signing up, setup, integrations, and troubleshooting for [product name].
Investigate SOV, ACS, answer content, and cited sources for [your product] and [competitor products] across major AI search services. Organize questions where your product does not appear, questions where competitors are favored, features/pricing/operations that are misdescribed, and frequently cited pages, and propose priority questions to improve.
```

<img src="https://mintcdn.com/agoslabstechnologiesfzco/nVMsHgQOcR2qTlLN/public/playbooks/consumer/geo-visibility-report.png?fit=max&auto=format&n=nVMsHgQOcR2qTlLN&q=85&s=024a6652bfca3e05b079023a6d1f73d0" alt="NoimosAI report summarizing AI search visibility and improvement opportunities" style={{ width: "100%", border: "1px solid #e5e7eb", borderRadius: "8px", margin: "18px 0" }} width="2880" height="1556" data-path="public/playbooks/consumer/geo-visibility-report.png" />

Don’t focus only on low numeric scores; verify business impact and answer accuracy. Choose questions to improve and compare the cited sources with your pages in the next step.

Do not prioritize questions for uses or environments your product does not support. Prioritize fixing questions where pricing, supported environments, key features, or usage are incorrectly described even if mention counts are low.

### 2. Make product information easy for AI systems to access and cite

Enter public URLs into chat to audit fetching, discovery, understanding, accuracy, and evidence on each page. Confirm whether AI can retrieve and understand product, features, pricing, supported environments, and usage instructions; then fix high-impact gaps and technical issues first.

#### Prompt for chat

```text theme={null}
Perform a GEO audit of [public website URL]. Identify issues that prevent AI from fetching, understanding, or citing product name, target users, features, pricing, supported environments, and usage instructions. Summarize impact, priority, and specific fixes.
```

<img src="https://mintcdn.com/agoslabstechnologiesfzco/nVMsHgQOcR2qTlLN/public/playbooks/consumer/geo-audit-result.png?fit=max&auto=format&n=nVMsHgQOcR2qTlLN&q=85&s=6dcc25d1a6723f220864696f49176b66" alt="NoimosAI result showing GEO issues and priorities for a website" style={{ width: "100%", border: "1px solid #e5e7eb", borderRadius: "8px", margin: "18px 0" }} width="2880" height="1556" data-path="public/playbooks/consumer/geo-audit-result.png" />

Fix important pages that can’t be fetched and pages where features, pricing, or usage are unclear or outdated. For sites managed with NoimosAI, make fixes in the same chat, preview, and then publish. For new or updated pages, check index status in Google Search Console.

Audit results commonly find important info hidden behind login, specification mismatches between product pages and help, and lingering old URLs. After fixes, connect product, pricing, features, help, and update info with internal links.

### 3. Create content for product evaluation and use

Enter the questions and cited sources chosen from your initial audit into chat and have it create public pages suited to those questions. Produce final drafts that include the information and evidence target users need to choose, set up, or troubleshoot the product.

#### Prompt for chat

```text theme={null}
Create a [comparison page / use case / article / FAQ / help doc] that answers [question to improve in AI search].
Investigate current AI answers and cited sources and place the conclusion at the top. Match the current features, pricing, supported environments, and usage instructions from [official URL], and produce a publish-ready final draft that includes necessary comparisons, evidence, specific examples, and procedures.
```

<img src="https://mintcdn.com/agoslabstechnologiesfzco/nVMsHgQOcR2qTlLN/public/playbooks/consumer/geo-article-result.png?fit=max&auto=format&n=nVMsHgQOcR2qTlLN&q=85&s=f4fb5953bb1516f20663fb392fda5513" alt="Content created by NoimosAI with AI search visibility and citation in mind" style={{ width: "100%", border: "1px solid #e5e7eb", borderRadius: "8px", margin: "18px 0" }} width="2880" height="1556" data-path="public/playbooks/consumer/geo-article-result.png" />

Verify facts, evidence, screenshots, and links before publishing. Add internal links from related pages and include the published URLs in sitemap.xml.

Test every help article and procedure against the current product UI. Verify the required plan, permissions, supported environments, and expected result before publishing. Then request indexing for important URLs and confirm that they have been indexed.

### 4. Monitor and improve visibility over time

Create an agent that measures SOV, ACS, answer content, and cited sources for the same questions and AI services, and compares results to the previous run. Identify degraded questions and outdated explanations, and have it propose official pages to update or new content to create.

#### Agent setup

**Trigger:** Schedule / Weekly

**Instructions:**

```text theme={null}
Measure SOV, ACS, answer content, and cited sources for [your product] and [competitor products] using the specified pre-selection and in-use questions.
Compare with the previous run to identify questions with increased or decreased mentions or citations, questions where competitors have newly gained advantage, incorrect features/pricing/operations, and newly cited pages. Choose the change with the greatest impact and propose an official page to update or new content to create, including specific change details.
```

**Integrations:** None

Edit or publish the proposed pages and verify changes on the next measurement. If Google Analytics is connected, also check sign-up, activation, and paid conversion for users coming from AI services.

If mentions don’t increase immediately after fixes, continue with the same questions and conditions. First confirm that official pages are fetched, current specs are described, and correct help or product pages are being cited.
